Judges: Samson – Chosen Yet Unfaithful

Samson, though chosen by God, failed to live a righteous life.

He was entrusted with extraordinary gifts — strength, intelligence and wit. Yet he lived in sin. He disregarded his Nazirite vow, pursued what was right in his own eyes, and entangled himself with the very people he was set apart from.

He was not merely deceived.

He was blind.

Unable to discern, he gave himself to someone who sought his ruin. What he called “love” was not grounded in truth and righteousness, but in sinful desire that led to his downfall.

Samson, though chosen by God, failed to steward his calling.

But God still accomplished His purposes through him.

In his final moments, Samson called upon Yahweh in humility, asking for strength one last time. Through his death, he struck down more Philistines than he had in his life (Judges 16:30). And despite his failures, he is remembered among the faithful (Hebrews 11:32).

God remains sovereign, even over human weakness and failure.

This leads me to ask:

💭 How am I pursuing righteousness in my life?

💭 How am I stewarding what God has entrusted to me?

💭 How does God’s sovereignty over human sin confront my complacency?
